The noise of the week has settled. Now we deal with the Signal.
In 1775, the great Samuel Johnson was threatened by a fraud named James Macpherson, who demanded Johnson retract his exposure of a fake literary work. Johnson’s spine did not bend.

He replied:

“I pay regard not to what you shall say, but to what you can prove.”

Johnson understood the physics of reality: The truth doesn't need a lobbyist. It just needs a witness. The truth is a LION! It needs no defense!

The Saturday Mandate: The Final 'C'

In the MEDDICC framework, the final 'C' stands for Competition.

Make no mistake: The Competition is not always honorable. They will mislead. They will distort the numbers. They will lie to protect their turf. They will try to "Ossian" your prospect with fake stories.

There is a Russian proverb: “He who wants to wrestle with the wolves should have the claws of a bear.”

Your Claws are the Truth.

1. Sharpen the Claws: Your claws are Facts, Data, Sincerity, Proof Points, and References. Do not walk into a prospecting call with opinions. Walk in with evidence. Opinions can be argued; data cannot. Does your Value Pyramid stand on its own?
2. Arm the Champion: A Champion without data is a sheep waiting for the slaughter. You must teach your Champion how to use the claws. Give them the metrics and the references so they can slash through the competition's lies when you aren't in the room. Identify, Educate, Test, and always always protect your Champion. There will be other deals. Do not let your Champions down.
3. The Johnson Standard: Reverence the truth and defy the rage of the imposters. As Marcus Aurelius commanded: "If it is not right, don't do it: if it is not true, don't say it."
